Positive: The location of this hotel is excellent, a short walk to the restaurants and shops in Santa Elena. It has lovely gardens which we sat out in when the sun did come out. Our own terrace to sit out on was also welcome but it was shady so too cold for evenings. The extra blankets were welcome however. The room was large and I really enjoyed the jacuzzi bath which I used on our last night. Breakfast was simple but good quality, typical Costa Rican. It does not have facilities of some hotels but the family feel made it feel under- rated somehow.

Negative: Unfortunately we arrived when Monteverde was getting some cooler, windier and wetter weather, therefore our room was cold at night and the wind very noisy so we did not get great nights sleep. Due to the thin roofing.

Summary: Needed warmer weather to really appreciate this hotel.
